Chuen-Fung Wong is an Assistant Professor of Music at Macalester College, where he teaches ethnomusicology and world music.

Chuen-Fung holds a Ph.D. (2006) from the University of California, Los Angeles. He also completed an M.Phil. (2002) and a B.A. (1999) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Chuen-Fung has conducted ethnographic research in Central Asia, focusing on the Turkic musical traditions among the Uyghur people in the northwest outposts of China. His dissertation, "Peripheral Sentiments: Encountering Uyghur Music in Urumchi," addresses issues of musical modernization, minority identifications, and cosmopolitan belongings. A performer of the Chinese seven-string zither guqin, Chuen-Fung has also done research and published in the area of traditional Chinese music. Prior to studying and teaching in the United States, he taught courses in Chinese opera and Chinese music history at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
