Research Topics in Astrophysics

During Spring 2002, the topics covered in this course included an array of subjects on The Local Universe: From Stars to Cosmology. We met twice per week; the first meeting included background information, readings, and a discussion of a given topic. The second meeting included either a gues colloquium speaker or discussion based on assigned readings. The topics were focused on understanding our Local Universe, e.g. solar, stellar, and interstellar medium chemical compositions, how elemental abundances are used to udnerstand galaxy evolution, and how differences between the galaxies in our Local Group inform us about the Universe and cosmology. For a brief synopsis of each talk, Click here.

This course will be next offered in Spring 2003.
