Closing and Parking the Telescope


IN DOME

  1. Put telescope covers on.
  2. Go to Telescope -> Rates -> Track Rates and enter zeros for the RA and DEC rates.  This turns the tracking off to park the telescope.
  3. Go to Telescope -> Movement -> Offset/Zenith and click on the "Apply" button for the "Set Zenith Position".  Then click on "Start Slew".
  4. Go to Telescope -> Misc -> Switches and set 'dome' to OFF and set 'dome home' to OFF.
  5. Move dome with hand paddle until the shutter cable is within reach. Plug cables together and close shutter.
  6. UNPLUG!
  7. Under 'Switches,' turn 'dome home' to ON and 'dome' to ON (the dome will now park to home).
  8. After the dome has parked, go to 'Switches,' and turn 'dome' to OFF and 'dome home' to OFF.
  9. Terminate link with the sky. Turn off the monitors.
  10. Turn off the lights. Lock dome door. Go downstairs.

IN LAB

  1. Hit 'HALT MOTORS' button.
  2. Shut down programs. Turn off computers and make sure the close the front panel by the TCS computer.
