Macalester Students Receive Awards From The Jimmy And Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation

The Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation has selected Kristina Doan '10 and Elizabeth McCreary '09 as recipients of 2008 Carter Academic-Service Entrepreneur (CASE) grants in recognition and support of their academic civic engagement work.

They are the first Macalester students to receive this honor from the foundation. Professors Patrick Schmidt (Political Science) and Daniel Trudeau (Geography), as well as Civic Engagement Center staff are supporting Doan and McCreary in their CASE projects.

Macalester Graduate Peter Berg's Film Hancock Remains One Of Summer's Top Draws

The movie Hancock, directed by Peter Berg '84, finished last weekend as one of the top grossing films according to the most recent box office rankings. In its third weekend in release, the film stars Will Smith as an unpopular superhero who saves the life of a public relations executive who then attempts to salvage the hero's reputation.

First Green Star Awards Presented To Graduation Gown Donation Program Organizers

The Macalester Sustainability Office has presented its first Green Star Awards to those who helped organize the Graduation Gown Donation Program.

The Green Star Award is a new program designed to congratulate students, staff, or faculty who have done something to improve sustainability on campus.
