Macalester Intramural Soccer Rules
1. Because of the demand for building space, we will continue to play on the small courts. In light of this, teams will consist of four field players and one goal keeper.
2. A-League = No limit on collegiate players.
B-League = Only two players with intercollegiate experience will be
allowed to play per team. This includes J.V. players.
3. There must be at least two women playing on the field at all times.
4. Games will consist of two twenty minute halves with a five minute
half-time interval. Overtime will only be played to decide playoff
games.
5. Teams who play the ball into the overhead lights will be forced to
play one player short for one minute.
6. Please do not kick or shoot against the walls.
7. The goalkeeper is not allowed to punt or drop kick the ball, or throw
the ball in the air past half field.
8. After a ball has gone out of bounds, the team that did not kick the
ball out is awarded a kick from the spot the ball left the playing field. (Not a throw-in.)
9. Whenever possible, FIFA rules will apply, including hand balls,
dangerous plays, and illegal tackles or pushes. All fouls are dependent
on the judgement of the referee.
10. The goalkeeper is only allowed to use his/her hands within the area
designated by the referee. Handball fouls by the goalkeeper will result in a free kick from the center spot.
11. Substitutions may occur during any stoppage of play.
12. Referees have the power to issue warnings or eject any player for
unsporting behavior or repeated fouling. The team may substitute for the ejected player.
