Lin Aanonsen, professor, chair of the Biology Department and chair of the Health Professions Advisory Committee, is a neuroscientist trained in neuropharmacology. She teaches various courses in neurobiology including The Enchanted Cortex: Cell Biology & Genetics I, Cellular & Molecular Neuroscience and Human Physiology as well as some pharmacology courses. Her research, which involves Macalester students, focuses on the neurochemicals and receptors that may be involved in the spinal processing of chronic pain. Students often present their work with her at Society for Neuroscience meetings and past research has resulted in co-authored publications in major journals. She was the recipient of the 2003 Macalester College Excellence in Teaching Award.
