Faculty >Mary Montgomery

Mary Montgomery, associate professor of biology, teaches courses in cell biology, genetics, developmental biology, biotechnology, molecular evolution and research in molecular genetics. Her current research examines the evolution of the molecular genetic pathways that direct the earliest stages of animal development. Instrumentation grants from the National Science Foundation allowed her to purchase several epifluorescent microscopes, digital cameras, image-capturing software and a laser cell ablation system. Students participating in her research program often present their work at national conferences, such as the Society for Developmental Biology annual meeting, and two students completing honors projects with her have contributed as co-authors on publications.
