Kathleen Parson, professor with a joint appointment in chemistry and biology, received Macalester's 1998 Thomas Jefferson Award for outstanding scholarship and pedagogy. She teaches genetics and biochemistry. She is a consultant to the Biomaterials Technology Center at 3M, where a number of her students have had internships.
