Professor Overvoorde is a plant molecular biologist with teaching and research interests in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and genome biology.  His research program focuses on understanding how plant cells perceive and respond to the plant hormone auxin.  He recently received two grants: a major instrumentation award from the NSF for molecular biology equipment that will be used widely for research in the department and a grant from the USDA for support of his research.  Overvoorde teaches Genetics, one of the courses in the Department’s core sequence, as well as courses in plant physiology and genome biology.
