Beauty Shot Beauty Shot Beauty Shot

I think that I cannot preserve my health and spirits, unless I spend four hours a day at least - and it is commonly more than that - sauntering through the woods and over the hills and fields, absolutely free from all worldly engagements.
~Henry David Thoreau

Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoeing
Boundary Waters Canoe Area, northern Minnesota
For more info: http://www.bwcaw.org
The Boundary Waters is one of the only places left in the lower 48 where you can travel for days or even weeks and never see a house or cross a road.  It is also one of the largest inland navigable waterway systems in the world.  You and your team will become an efficient unit as your instructors teach you the skills you’ll need to navigate this vast wilderness.  Paddle silently through placid lakes and master the art of portaging your food, gear, and canoes to the next lake.  Every night you are with us will be spent sleeping in a tent.  You’ll learn all the navigation, camping, cooking, and canoeing skills needed to comfortably complete a canoe expedition.  One day of your courses will be spent rock climbing or going through a high ropes course with your group.

The amount of miles a group covers in one day is dependent on weather, strength, and motivation of the group members and terrain.  On average, a group can expect to travel approximately 8 miles per day.

Superior National Hiking Trail: Backpacking
For more info: http://www.shta.org.
The Superior Hiking Trail is a 205-mile long distance footpath that follows the rocky ridgeline above Lake Superior in northeastern Minnesota.  It begins just north of Two Harbors, MN, and ends just before the Canadian border.  The trail has 30 trailheads and 75 backcountry campsites making it ideal for both day hikes and backpacking.

Your group will be traveling on the Superior Hiking Trail located along the North Shore of Lake Superior.  Every night you are with us will be spent sleeping in a tent.  Your days will be filled with hiking along this beautiful trail.  You might cross rivers, see spectacular views of Lake Superior, and see some northern wildlife.  You’ll learn all the navigation, camping, cooking, and hiking skills needed to comfortably complete a hiking expedition.

The amount of miles a group covers in a day is dependent on weather, strength, and motivation of the group members and terrain.
