Brittany Lewis, '09, will be our Halfway To May guest for the Class of 2015. As a student at Macalester, she majored in Political Science and American Studies, played Varsity basketball and was a leader of several student organizations. She has gone on to earn an M.A. in Feminist Studies at the University of MN (U of M) in 2012 and is a Ph.D. candidate in Feminist Studies, U of M, May 2015. Brittany was back on campus last spring when she taught a course in American Studies, and we're excited to hear what she learned from being on the other side of the classroom.
As a recent grad, Brittany's experiences will be fresh and our students will be able to relate to some of her successes and challenges. She'll reflect on how she came to be where she is now, including the realities and myths of post-undergrad life. She will share the most valuable and challenging parts of her Mac experience, balancing graduate studies while raising a family, returning to Mac as a professor and why her message is 'never stop yearning'.
