Macward Bound Leader Information and Application
August 20th through August 30th
Applications for 2012 are now closed.
Thanks for your interest in leading with the Macward Bound program! Past leaders will attest that this was a transformative and rewarding experience.
We are looking for leaders who will:
develop healthy and positive relationships with new Mac students.
be responsible and safe.
help new students transition to Macalester and college life.
be good stewards of the environment.
espouse the mission, values and goals of Macward Bound (listed below)
keep it real and fun!
Time committment :
2 spring trainings/meetings (date tbd)
Email correspondence over the summer
with program coordinators and your student group
Arrival to Macalester on Sunday, August 19th
2 day training - Monday, August 20th and Tuesday, August 21st
Prep - Wednesday, August 22nd
New student arrival and welcome - Thursday, August 23rd
Trip - Friday, August 24th thru Tuesday, August
28th
Post trip activities - Wednesday, August 29th and Thursday, August 30th
In exchange for your time, skills and committment you will receive:
Access to your Residential Hall room upon arrival on Sunday, August 19th
All meals
An awesome trip (a $500+ value)
New relationships with really cool people
A rewarding and powerful experience
Minnesota mud on your boots
A sweet new t-shirt

Applications are due on Friday, February 17th. Interviews will happen the following week.

Macward Bound Mission:
To provide shared experiences in which new students will develop social support systems, self-awareness and confidence in an outdoor environment.

Goals:
-Provide a safe and fun adventure for new students to develop relationships with classmates

-Ease the transition to Macalester and college life
-Develop basic wilderness skills
-Provide opportunities for self-reflection and personal growth
