General Education

International Resources

  • The International Educator - Website for an education newspaper that also puts its materials online, including job ads from around the world. To view the information, you must subscribe to the paper, which is not free.
  • World Teach - An organization based through the Center for International Development at Harvard University that provides volunteer teachers in developing countries.
  • Aupair World - a free site matching up aupairs and families around the world.
  • American Language Online - Listing of ESL and other language jobs across the country. Sorted by state.
  • Marshall University - Information on teaching in China through the Marshall University Appalachians Abroad program.
  • Global Routes - Global Routes gives volunteers the opportunity to teach in a primary or secondary school of a remote rural village, live with a host family in a simple traditional home, and delve into the natural flow and rhythm of daily village life.
  • JET - The Japanese Exchange and Teaching program aims to enhance foreign language education in Japan and promote international exchange at the local level through fostering ties between Japanese youth and foreign youth.

K-12 and Private School Resources

  • Teachers @ Work - A nation-wide electronic employment service for teachers through the National Educators Employment Network.
  • K-12jobs.com - Concentrates on job posting opportunities available at kindergarten, elementary schools, junior high, high schools and vocational schools.
  • Carney Sandoe & Associates - CS&A recruits teachers and administrators for placement in private, independent schools across the US and abroad.
  • Educational Resources Group - A placement service for independent schools, primarily concentrating on locations east of the Rocky Mountains.

Higher Education Resources

  • The Chronicle of Higher Education - The site for a print publication with information about higher education, including job openings. Some openings are online for free, but you must subscribe to the paper for full access.
  • Academic360.com - A meta-collection of Internet resources that have been gathered for the academic job hunter. It includes links to faculty, staff, and administrative announcements and is not restricted to teaching positions.
  • HigherEdjobs.com - A database of education related positions as posted by the institutions themselves.
  • The Academic Postion Network - A database with a job search engine to find your job for you.

New Teacher Programs

  • Teach For America - A national teaching program which seeks to attract college graduates to the profession of teaching. Teach for America offers a wide variety of experiences to its participants by providing placements in both urban and rural settings.
  • Teach Kentucky - Recruits recent graduates from selective national institutions of higher education to teach in Kentucky public schools. Teach Kentucky has forged a strategic partnership with the University of Louisville's College of Education and Human Development, Jefferson and Shelby County Public Schools, and local alumni of the respective universities to fully engage our recruits in the educational, social, and cultural fabric of our community.
  • New York Teaching Fellows - A division of The New Teacher Project listed below which prepares new college graduates from various backgrounds to teach in schools in the New York City area.
  • KIPP: Knowledge Is Power Program - The KIPP: Knowledge Is Power Program is committed to providing students in educationally under-served areas with a high quality college preparatory education. There are 48 open enrollment (KIPP) schools in 17 states throughout the United States.
  • The New Teacher Project (TNTP) - Creates and runs high-quality alternate routes to certification to attract and prepare exceptionally talented people from non-traditional backgrounds to teach, particularly for high need areas and hard-to-staff schools. Since 1997, The New Teacher Project has prepared over 13,000 new teachers for school districts across the country to focus on areas such as math science, and special education.
  • The Mississippi Teacher Corps - The Mississippi Teacher Corps is the most competitive alternate-route teaching program in the country. The two-year program, designed for non-education majors, recruits college graduates to teach in the Mississippi Delta and offers a host of benefits, including teacher training and certification, a full scholarship for a master's degree in education, job placement that includes full pay and benefits and, most importantly, the opportunity to make a difference
    in the lives of students in one of the poorest areas of the country. An online application is available. The application process takes less than five minutes to complete. The first application deadline is Sunday, November 20th. Applicants will be notified of their status by December 20th. The second deadline is February 20th. For underclassman, there are two-month summer internship that includes housing here at the University of Mississippi and a $2,000 stipend.
