Civic Leadership Coordinator
Markim Hall, 308
I have been the Civic Leadership Coordinator in the Civic Engagement Center (CEC) since 2006. In this role, I manage the Leaders In Service and Bonner Community Scholars Programs. Through these programs I work with over 55 student leaders and over 50 community partners. What I love about my working in the CEC is that it is always changing and evolving. I get to connect with and mentor students in developing community partnerships, volunteer management, community involvement, and creating social change. I get a kick out of meeting and talking about ideas for programs/events, developing deeper connections with community partners and maximizing student and organizational capacity building. In addition, I collaborate with colleagues on campus events like Taste of Service, Into the Streets, Women’s History Month, and the Macalester Leadership Conference. I also advise Habitat for Humanity and OXFAM.
I have a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Humphrey Institute for Public Affairs with a concentration in non-profit management combined with youth and social policy. Prior to Mac, I worked in the Twin Cities at United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and West Seventh Community Center. I can’t forget to mention I am a Mac Alum!
In my spare time, I love to play board games with my family, walk our two Siberian Huskies, play tennis competitively and for fun, volunteer at my children’s school, as well as serve on the board at Fred Wells Tennis and Education Center.
