Lucy Forster-Smith, Associate Dean for Religious and Spiritual Life and Chaplain of the College
Lucy Forster-Smith is ordained in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and has served in ministry on campuses for over 25 years. She has a M.Div. and Doctor of Ministry from Princeton Theological Seminary. She loves to write poetry, journal, explore theological questions, sing, and promote global justice and peace with the college community. She has been Chaplain at Macalester College since 1994.

K.P. Hong , Assistant Director for Religious and Spiritual Life and Protestant Chaplain
K.P. Hong is the new assistant director for Religious and Spiritual Life and Protestant Chaplain at Macalester College. He was born in Taejon, South Korea, and moved with his family to the United States, where his father served ethnic ministries in Denver and, later, Colorado Springs. Hong earned his degree at Williams College and then enrolled at Princeton Theological Seminary. He received ordination from the New York Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church, and held pastorates in Asian-American and multiethnic congregations in that region. Rooted also in Buddhist practice, he is especially interested in the dynamic of spirituality in human development and in the increasingly relational context of world religions.

Rabbi Barry Cytron, Assistant Director for Religious and Spiritual Life and Jewish Chaplain
Barry has served Macalester College for over 15 years teaching in the Department of Religious Studies. A rabbi in the Conservative Movement of Judaism, Rabbi Cytron is actively involved in both communal and interfaith activities serving as the Jay Phillips Chair in Jewish Studies at St. John's University and the University of St. Thomas. He is the proud parent of a 1999 graduate of Macalester College!

Bob O'Donnell, CSP
Assistant Director for Religious and Spiritual Life and Catholic Chaplain
Robert J. O'Donnell is a member of the Paulist community, ordained a Catholic priest in 1974. "Bob" has served in parish, seminary and administrative ministries as well as in campus ministry at Cal Berkeley, the University of Connecticut, M.I.T., and now (half-time) at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. In addition to an M.A. in Theology, he has an M.A. in American History (U Conn) and a Ph.D. in Religion and Culture (Catholic U.)

Eily Marlow, Lilly Project Associate
Eily Marlow '97 works with the Lilly Program for Vocation and Ethical Leadership. She enjoys working with students as they discover how their religious values inform their convictions and vocational path. She understands vocational discernment as both a spiritual and communal activity and loves listening to narratives of exploration. Her own commitments reside in the reproductive justice and HIV/AIDS communities, as well as the movement for the full inclusion of LGBT persons within religious communities. She was ordained a Presbyterian (U.S.A.) minister in 2005.

Rick Mattson, Apologetics Ministry
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
Rick Mattson is on on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. He grew up in Marshall, MN, and received his M.A. from Bethel Seminary (St. Paul, MN) in the philosophy of religion. He splits his time between traveling nationally for InterVarsity as a Christian apologist and trainer, and serving as the campus staff at Macalester. His passions include working with international and ethnic students, dialog around interfaith and worldview topics, biblical studies, and, in his spare time -- golf!

Pattie Lydon, Department Coordinator
Pattie Lydon, the Chapel Department Coordinator, has a B.A. from Metropolitan State University, worked at West Publishing for 18 years and a Catholic Church for 4 years. She enjoys spending time with her family, attending sporting events, and going to the lake.
