Kathleen Parson Professor of Biology and ChemistryB.A., Macalester College, 1967 Kathleen Parson is currently in Australia, spending six months (January-July) as a visiting scholar on the faculty of the Biological and Chemical Sciences at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, at the invitation of their executive dean. While in residence Kathy will work with the dean and his colleagues to implement a newly revised program for the B.Sc. degree utilizing expertise she acquired over the past two years while serving as Program Director in the Division of Undergraduate Education at the NSF in Arlington, VA, and in her previous academic roles. In 2007, Kathy was elected to a three-year term as a Council on Undergraduate Research Councillor, and will be working with that organization to support and promote high-quality undergraduate student-faculty collaborative research and scholarship. A professor with a joint appointment in the Chemistry and Biology Departments, Dr. Parson received Macalester's 1998 Jefferson Award for exemplifying in her personal influence, teaching, writing, and scholarship the principles and ideals of Thomas Jefferson.
