Stacey Stoffregen
Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry
B. A., St. Olaf College, 2002
Ph.D., Iowa State University, 2007
Stacey Stoffregen is an organic and inorganic chemist. She is a recent arrival to the department (Fall 2007) and teaches courses in general, organic, and inorganic chemistry. Stacey grew up in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, but spent the last five years in Ames, Iowa where she pursued her graduate studies and served as an instructor of general chemistry at Iowa State University.
Stacey has a background in the design of synthetic peptidases and in the photochemical reactivity as well as computational modeling of sulfur ylides. She continues to pursue her interests in sulfur photochemistry in addition to beginning an exploration of the properties of aerosols by means of computational chemistry.
She has a wonderful family, including her husband Bill and her two dogs, Kip and Oskar. Bill is a veterinary pathologist who works for Boston Scientific. Kip is a brilliant ten and a half-year old blue heeler/Samoyed mix. Oskar is an excitable two-year old border collie mix. The entire family enjoys cross-country skiing, gardening (the dogs do the digging!), camping, and hiking.
