Purpose and Scope of the Micro
Fund
The Microcomputer Fund is an annual sum of money allocated
by the College to purchase 'office' computers, workgroup printers
and some upgrades (such as additional RAM) for faculty and staff
members, as well as for public-access facilities. Micro Fund
purchases are not charged against any of your department's or
office's budgets. The Microcomputer Fund is not used to purchase
peripheral hardware, software or non-computer peripheral equipment
(such as FAX machines or VCRs); these items should be purchased
through your departmental TEM (Technology/Equipment/Maintenance)
budgets.
The College has set a goal of replacing institutionally-owned
computers every four years and institutionally-owned workgroup
printers every six years, depending on funding levels. The Micro
Fund can afford to purchase and replace one (1) computer per
faculty or staff member.
