Technology Services is a team of professional staff
who consult with faculty to support their technology needs.
Macalester's
calendar software, Google Calendar is a time scheduling program
that allows you to maintain a
personal schedule in addition to scheduling appointments
with other Google Apps users.
ITS maintains or coordinates a number of campus
computer facilities on the Macalester campus. Most have both Windows and Mac OS stations
with free printing.
All members of the Macalester community are given college e-mail accounts with certain guidelines and space limitations.
The Enterprise Services Team develops supports and maintains Systems/Databases that support the campus's core business.
The Humanities
Resource Center is open to
all students, faculty and staff. In addition to its 20 Macintosh
computers, the facility has equipment for virtually all audio
and video formats. Four stations with piano keyboards are set
up for music composition. The lounge provides an area for comfortable
study, small group work, or reading.
Macalester has chosen Moodle for its learning
management system.
All professors may post assignments and materials for their
classes and students enrolled in those classes have access to
those postings.
All students,
staff, and faculty automatically have accounts and network
file space on Macalester network servers.
Macalester
is able to offer discounts on personal computer sales through
special vendor web sites. There is no longer an on-campus computer
store.
All community
members are given designated site space for personal
web pages.
Drop an html-formated file into your public.www directory and your site is
active.
Telephones are located in every dorm room, office and other places across
campus.
