CORBY KELLY
Visiting Assistant Professor and
Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr. Kelly received his B.A. from Dartmouth College in 1999, and
in January 2007 earned his Ph.D. in Classics from Stanford University.
He is currently on a two-year appointment at Macalester as a Visiting
Assistant Professor and Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Classics
Department.
As a scholar of the literature of the late Republican and Augustan
periods, he focuses on the many ways in which Latin poets read
and responded to one another’s work.
He was also the co-founder and co-director for three years of
the Philosophical Stages program at Stanford. The program, which
explores with high school students the intersections of philosophy
and theater, was supported by grants from both the Stanford Humanities
Lab and the Wallenberg Global Learning Network.
During the 2007-08 academic year, Dr. Kelly will be teaching The
Greek World and Intermediate Latin Poetry. He is looking forward,
next year, to directing an adaptation of Aristophanes’ Birds
at Macalester.
