E. Rackow photographing artifacts at Isthmia (2003)
To implement this approach, KCP coordinates several components of field research under the purview of our authorization by the Greek State:
  • Documentation and exploration of surface remains and disturbed burial contexts.
  • Consolidation of written and graphic records from previous exploration.
  • Creation of a comprehensive visual record of the site through digital photography and topographic mapping.
  • Analysis of artifacts and bones collected from the site.
  • Investigation of the natural landscape, specifically the geological context of the chamber tombs, the ancient exploitation of natural resources, and the evolution of coastal morphology.
  • Study and conservation of wall-painting, including technical, iconographic and stylistic evaluation and scientific analysis of mortar and pigments.
