RPC Meeting Minutes
January 31, 2007
Present: Balik, Collins, Flath, Heyman, Lindeman, Latham, Michelfelder, Nedelsky.
- Meeting was called to order at 2:05 pm.
- Minutes from the meeting of January 24, 2006 were approved with corrections.
- Committee considered issues for the spring calendar.
We discussed library and journal subscriptions. We decided any proposal regarding journal subscriptions should be discussed first by the Library staff with departmental library representatives at their spring meeting before it is brought to RPC.
Committee briefly discussed identifying core and peripheral things among those tasks that the college does. We chose not to move forward on this issue this term.
Committee discussed staffing issues. Overall issue is to identify the proper size of the staff and level of salary and benefits. Committee agreed that RPC’s role should be strategic rather than tactical.
- The committee reviewed a list of important indicators supplied by the Provost.
- The committee continued discussion of enhancements to faculty support. Heyman introduced a survey of academic deans / provosts at peer colleges with shorter sabbatical cycles.
- Meeting adjourned at 3:25 pm.
