RPC Meeting Minutes
May 2, 2007
Present: Collins, Contant, Flath, Heyman, Hornbach, Hoye, Laskin, Latham, Lindeman, Michelfelder, Nedelsky, Wheaton.
- Meeting was called to order at 1:35 pm.
- Minutes from the meeting of April 11, 2007 were approved.
- We reviewed faculty representatives for upcoming Trustee’s Meeting.
- RPC reviewed the final draft of the Report on Faculty Support and endorsed the document. The report will now be sent forward to the President and Provost, and will be posted on the web for faculty review.
- RPC welcomed new members for A.Y. 2007/8: Susan Fox (Math/CS), Raymond Robertson (Econ.) and Arjun Guneratne (Anthro.). With the new members we discussed issues for possible consideration next year, including:
• Staff Compensation/ Support
• Compensation for Non-Tenure-Track Faculty
• Creating a comprehensive plan for adding staff over next five years, identifying basic principles and critical areas
• Continued review of study away, need-aware admissions, capital campaign, academic indicators,
• Implementation of four-year sabbatical cycle: disseminate report to faculty for comment; propose supporting handbook changes; supporting recommendations to other committees.
- Members of 2007/8 RPC elected Andrew Latham as committee chair for 2007/8, and chose Ray Robertson as RPC representative to Benefits Advisory Committee.
- The meeting adjourned at 2:45 PM
