Congratulations to Tan Do, Civic Engagement Center. The Bonner Program is one of Macalester’s chances for students to get involved in the community and pursue social justice, and Bonner senior intern Tan Do has been dedicated to this mission for four years. While on the Bonner Leadership Team, Tan exceeded expectations and worked to improve the guidelines of Bonner to reflect its core values and make the Bonner Community Fund function more effectively in the areas needed most. She also learned to overcome her reluctance to speak publicly, gracing luncheons for the President of Macalester and the President of the Bonner Foundation. Her passion for the goals of organizations such as the Children’s Program, the Family Place, Project Home, and the Jeremiah Program, demonstrate her persistence in improving others’ lives, and she will undoubtedly continue this work after graduation.
