Visual Narrative

Elements to consider when interpreting visual narrative:

• Physical Context - On what type of object is the image found? What is the function of the object? How does that relate to the image?
• Space - How is image arranged visually? What is interaction between images on different parts of object?
• Style - Are elements part of scene or part of style/genre/decoration?
• Visual Language- Does the image include gestures, objects or other details which carry particular meanings? Is there a visual code or shorthand at work?
• Narrative Object - Story or stories selected
• Time/Moment within story
• Historical Context
