Uncommon Modes of Transport

There are also a few uncommon modes of transport which function as a part of Budapest's public system. These include the Sze cog wheel railway, first built in 1874, the Zugliget Hill cableway, and the ferry services. While all of these function as tourist attractions, they are also functional as part of the greater transit system--practical solutions to a difficult landscape. The cablecar and cog wheel rail are appropriate for particularly hill sections of Buda, and the ferries alleviate bridge congestion by transporting automobiles, as well as servicing the southern-most part of the city, where there are no bridges.
