- Haligonians take great pride in the heritage and culture of their city. Influences of many different cultures and ethnicities are seen throughout Halifax. Because of Halifax's rich history there are many historical sites and museums in the city.

- Many public parks and gardens also are scattered throughout the city. Public beaches along the coast, as well as biking trails and hiking paths in the Halifax area allow for many recreational opportunities for residents and visitors.

- The Neptune Theatre and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia are two very well renowned art centers in Halifax.

- Many festivals take place in Halifax throughout the year. The most famous being the "Tattoo", the largest annual indoor show in North America. Over 2000 military and civilian performers from around the world perform music, comedy and drama at the "Tattoo".

- Halifax's main shopping district is focused along Spring Green Road, in an area several blocks from the waterfront. Historic sites and museums, as well as the Halifax Habourwalk, line Halifax's waterfront. The recreational areas along the harbor and the preservation of the waterfront signify the influence citizens have had upon the planning of Halifax's downtown in the last 20 years.
