The Bubonic plague outbreak cause the city to panic, and with good reason. With 6200 dead within 3 months and more people continuing to die at an alarming rate, the people of Mumbai started to flee, spreading the plague to other parts of India. The only thing that was still able to flourish in Mumbai were the textile mills, ironically enough, which were able to keep working due to the amount of workers they had.
