Full-wall murals are common throughout the Belfast landscape. They are painted to express political and historical views, commemorating a wide range of events of great importance to the community. These murals are highly sectarian in nature and function as territorial markers, claiming the space as belonging to a specific group. In general, Unionist murals (below) tend to be militaristic and Republican ones (left) cultural or historical. |
