Kiev or Kyiv?

The picture at left is of a monument to the four legendary founders of Kyiv, three brothers, Kiy, Shcheck, and Khory, with their sister Lybid, arriving at the site of the city on a boat. The city was named after the eldest brother, Kiy. While Ukraine was under Soviet control, the name of the city was changed to Kiev using the Russian alphabet and spelling. After the break up of the Soviet Union the city reverted to the original Ukrainian spelling, "Kyiv."
