Geography:
Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia which is located in between Australia and Asia in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. The country of Indonesia is comprised of over 13,000 islands, 6,000 of which are populated by over 200 million people, making it the fourth most populous country in the world. Jakarta itself is located on the island of Java and sits on the northwestern coast on the Bay of Jakarta. The city sits on a flat plain but is only a short drive away from the more mountainous region in West Java. The total land space occupied by the city is about 670 square kilometers, and it contains about 13 natural and artificial rivers.
Climate:
Jakarta's climate is tropical, with an average daily temperature at 27C, and an average humidity of 81%. Beause the city is situated near the equator, it is affected by monsoon winds, coming from the west during the rainy months of November through April, and from the East during the dry season of May through October.
