The Jakarta of today does not show much of the old Dutch historical past. All Dutch names of streets have been changed and there is not much left of the old construction. Streets are clogged with a constant flow of traffic and the buildings are tall and full of people. While the old generations still lapse into Dutch while speaking to each other and visit Holland to see their relatives who have moved away from the tropics, the younger population looks to America for its greatest influences.
