Shanghai is located on the mouth of the Yanzi River in Eastern China. Its boundaries also includes the island of Chongming. It lies between the latitude of 30°23' and 31°27l N.

  Its excellent situational location is due to its place at the mouth of the Changjiang Delta which gives its access to one of China's most production regions. In addition to this it is located at the half way point on China's coastline, giving it access to the northern part and the southern part of China.
