The main port of Shanghai is located between the Wusongkou and the Minshang Power Plant on both sides of the Huangpu River. It s adminstrative area is 173.1 kilometers long and has a berth length of 281 kilometers. It has has 239 berths that can are over 1,000 tonnes and 77 berths of the 10,000 tonnes. In 1993, the Port's handling capacity was nearly 176 million tons. In 1984, Shanghai handling capacity reached 10 million tonnes making Shanghai one of the ten largest port cities in Shanghai. By 1993, its capacity expanded to almost 17,600,000 tonnes. |
