Admission Possible
Macalester College recently initiated a youth campus
visit redesign project with several offices at Macalester and Admission
Possible.
Through this enhanced relationship, we promote the enrollment of
promising Minnesota first-generation collegestudents, many of whom are students of
color, into Minnesota colleges and universities.
Linwood A+ Elementary
Volunteer Program
The Macalester College/Linwood A+ Elementary School
Volunteer Program is an opportunity for Macalester community members
(including students, staff/faculty, and alumni) to volunteer at Linwood
A+ Elementary School
reading with students in kindergarten through sixth grade during the

Jane Addams School for
Democracy
Recently, the Jane
Addams School and Macalester
College have begun to
deepen their partnership, based on each institution’s
commitment
to
civic engagement. Students from Macalester participate at Jane
Addams in one of three ways: through student employment, through
the Lives of Commitment program, or as a component of their course-work
Lake Street Connections: On
the Ground, Around
the Globe
Macalester College is developing a multifaceted partnership with the
Minnesota Historical Society and Macalester’s community
partners
on
Lake Street to create small-scale public history projects on the Lake
Street corridor. During Fall 2007, the Historical Society will use the
projects to create an exhibition on Lake Street at the MN History
Center. Paul Schadewald's Lake Street website has more information.
Connecting with the West Side
Macalester College is deeping their connection with St. Paul's West Side through many avenues including George Latimer's Urban Studies class which uses a combination of volunteer service and classroom lecture to enhance learning. The College is also developing their relationships with many West Side organizations such as Building Blocks, WSCO, Jane Addams School for Democracy, and Neighborhood House.
