Civic Engagement is
a multifaceted approach of working
for a common good which often results in activities which have a
public/civic purpose. Macalester is committed to teaching the skills of
citizenship in preparing students to be global citizens in a complex
world. To this end we invest in numerous high-quality forms of civic
engagement programs initiated throughout the college. Many of these
efforts are highlighted in the Civic
Engagement
Inventory. The Macalester
culture is one which fosters engagement
-- of both rich ideas and diligent action. Likewise, we strive to be a
good institutional citizen by offering the talent, expertise, material
and financial resouces of Macalester to improve our local and global
community.
