The Bonner Community Scholars Program
at Macalester

What is Bonner?

Through sustained partnerships the work of the Bonner Foundation strengthens student development, community impact, and campus infrastructure while promoting civic engagement, community building, diversity, international perspective, spiritual exploration, and social justice.

The Bonner Community Scholars Program is a four-year program providing financial support, leadership programming, engagement opportunities and a social network to students dedicated to pursuing and integrating community engagement into their college experience. To be eligible for the program participants must have work-study as part of their financial aid package and a demonstrated commitment to community involvement.

The Bonner Scholar Program seeks to transform the lives of students at 27 colleges and universities across the nation as well as their campuses, local communities, and nation by providing “access to education and opportunities to serve.”

Establishing a Bonner program at Macalester provides an opportunity to:

  • Serve as a leader and model in the area of civic engagement programs
