Data Management

A Resource For Macalester Faculty Members

The Research Data Management Support pages are a resource for Macalester faculty, students, and staff. Developed by members of the Library and ITS , in cooperation with Development, our intention is to provide a single source where you can find information on available services that will support your research and help you prepare data management plans.

Although these pages were originally intended to focus on those individuals working on NSF grants, these services are available for any faculty member who is seeking information on how to manage and store data sets and research reports.

HELP ACCORDING TO YOUR NEEDS

We recognize that data collected by researchers will be unique and specific to the research that is being conducted. Each researcher will have issues related to collection, analysis, storage that will vary according to the discipline. Our objective is to be here and help as needed in determining how to best address your needs for archiving data according to new NSF guidelines. On May 10, 2010, the National Science Foundation (NSF) disclosed a new development in its data sharing policy: and it now requires data management plans (DMPs) as part of all proposals submitted for NSF grants.

WE’RE HERE TO HELP!

Our most important goal is to provide you with names of individuals who are here to help and address questions you may have on how best to manage, archive, and retrieve as needed, information that is based on the collection and compilation of data sets. If you can’t find the information you seek in these pages, please contact your AIA or liaison librarian for further assistance. If you have recommendations for additions, please contact us and let us know how we can improve this site for future users.
