Many of the gifts given between June 1, 2007 and May 31, 2008, were matched dollar for dollar, up to $100, through a generous match provided by trustees and friend of the college. To everyone who became a number by giving a gift to Macalester for the first time or by renewing their lapsed support of the college, we say thank you. Why is alumni support important? Alumni support of the Annual Fund signals to the broader community that Macalester is a transformative place, a place worthy of financial gifts. Annual Fund participation is a critical component for Macalester’s continued success. Corporations, foundations and ranking organizations all look at alumni participation as a key indicator of the health of an institution.
