Susan Haigh ’73 is president of TwinCities Habitat for Humanity. She is also a Macalester trustee and donor. “At Macalester, I found demanding classes, great professors and engaged classmates—and an environment that encouraged me to learn not just by being in the classroom, but by connecting with the community. Interning at the State Office of Consumer Affairs; lobbying for a ‘banthecan’ bill at the Minnesota Legislature; serving as a teacher’s aide in a junior high social studies class; protesting against the Vietnam War; and helping kids learn to read in a church sponsored after-school program were all part of my Macalester experience."
