New arts facilities will support broad and deep programs, incorporate new technology, and accommodate greater student participation as well as new audiences.

The project will add space for rehearsal rooms, performance venues, gallery areas and classrooms.

Two Phases

Work will be completed in two phases.

  • Phase 1, $31 million ($24 million in gifts, $7 million in debt)
    Commons
    Large art galleries
    New art history classrooms
    Renovated and expanded music facilities
  • Phase 2, $39 million ($29 million in gifts, $11 million in debt)
    Renovating and expanding facilties for art, theatre and dance

As Mac’s new director of choral activities, Rogers conducts the Macalester Concert Choir, the Singing Scotsmen (men), and the Hildegaard Singers (women), many of the members of which are neither music majors nor minors.
