CREATING 100 NEW ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS

Macalester hopes to create 100 new scholarships through the Step Forward campaign, as well as to expand dramatically endowed funds for study abroad, service learning, and student-faculty collaboration, thereby ensuring that all Macalester students can participate in the full scope of a top caliber liberal arts education.

Significantly increasing the number of endowed scholarship funds and support for students is a critical priority and the largest single facet of the Step Forward campaign. Endowed funds are the backbone of a healthy college, particularly at Macalester, where accessibility has been a historic priority. Financial aid is second only to personnel in terms of cost to the college. In order to remain an institution that is both exceptional and accessible, we must invest in the endowed funds that make a Macalester education possible for students from all economic backgrounds.
