The most appropriate means for most donors to support the Step Forward campaign is through a gift to the Annual Fund. The Annual Fund underwrites 5% of the budget every year. Below you will find details on a number of ways you can make a gift that is appropriate to your preferences and financial situation:

Outright Gift

• Credit or Debit Card – to make a gift via credit or debit card visit our secure online transaction web site
• Check - The most common form for contributing is by check. Checks should be made payable to Macalester College and mailed to Step Forward Campaign, 1600 Grand Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55105.
• Stock or Other Securities – tax advantages may exist for gifts of stock or other securities with an appreciated value by transferring the stock directly to the College. For instructions please click here
• Wire Transfer – gifts via a wire transfer from a donor’s bank or brokerage account may be the most convenient means for certain donors to make a gift.
• Donor Advised Fund – gifts from a donor advised fund should be made payable to Macalester College and mailed to Step Forward Campaign, 1600 Grand Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55105. It’s important to remember that donor advised fund gifts cannot be used to satisfy a donor’s pledge.
• Non U.S. Residents – Macalester is committed to ensuring that alumni and friends living abroad have a convenient means to make a contribution to the Step Forward Campaign.
• Dual taxpayers in both U.S. and U.K. - a gift may be made to Macalester’s account at the Charities Aid Fund which provides additional matching funds for the gift. Gift form (pdf)» | More information (pdf)»
• Non U.S. or U.K. residents – A gift by international wire transfer is the best method for gifts of $10,000 or more. For gifts under $10,000 gifts should be made via credit card or by check made payable to Macalester College and mailed to Step Forward Campaign, 1600 Grand Avenue, Saint Paul, MN 55105.

Bequest or Planned Gift

Planned giving or bequests are another valuable way to make a lasting impact on the college. Planned gifts for the campaign may be directed to endowed funds or specified as undesignated. Donors providing for a bequest provision who obtain age 70 by the conclusion of the Step Forward Campaign may have the amount of their provision counted in the campaign total. Donors who arrange for an irrevocable planned gift and obtain age 60 by the end of the campaign may have their gift included in campaign totals.
