Dr. Yossi Beilin
Challenges to Peace in the Middle East
A Mideast Peace Summit (2007)

Currently Chairman of the Meretz-Yachad Party and a member of the Knesset, Yossi Beilin has had a long and distinguished Diplomatic and Political career starting in 1984.

He initiated secret negotiations with the Palestinian Authority (with Peres' support) in early 1992 which led to the Oslo Accords and the famous handshake on the White House lawn a little over a year later. He is considered by many to be "the father of the Oslo agreements." Beilin was the leader of the Israeli negotiating team for Oslo.

In 2003 Beilin developed the Geneva Accords. The principles of both Oslo and Geneva are used as guidelines by most parties still working on peace initiatives.

He has had a long career in peacemaking and negotiations. He is still very involved in peace initiatives and has made resolving the Israel-Palestinian conflict the primary focus of his long and distinguished career.

Author of many, many books and articles. Some of his books include; Israel, A Concise Political History, The Manual for Leaving Lebanon, The Price of Unity, Touching Peace, His Brother's Keeper, and Manual for a Wounded Dove.
