Lighting
Every house requires lighting, but finding efficient bulbs and fixtures is easy to do. Many retailers carry compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) and light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs. The myth that CFLs produce a harsh color is untrue; there are many choices from soft white to natural daylight. LED technology is constantly improving and the cost is dropping.
Look for ENERGY STAR labels on CFL and LED bulbs.
