After Macalester

Economics majors at Macalester are a diverse group of people with broad interests. While a number of students choose to work in financial services and consulting, many students apply their economics education unique and creative ways.

Erland Herfindahl `03 (Benson, Minnesota) completed his master's degree in applied economics at the University of Minnesota in December 2005. He is now working for the U.S. International Trade Commission in Washington, D.C.

Kelly Robbins has been accepted as a Master's Degree candidate to the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department at the University of Utah.

Matthew Healy '01 (Ames, Iowa) is in Japan on a Fulbright Scholarship.

Sarah Noel Aerni '00 recently returned from her year in Germany as a Fulbright Scholar and is now pursuing a degree in Library Sciences.

Keenan Sue '01 (Hawaii) has signed with a minor league baseball team in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

Marty Graham '99 (Wray, Colorado) is the latest of several Macalester Economics graduates employed by the Northwest Airlines' freight operations.

Karl Wassman '00 (Ormsby, Minnesota) is teaching elementary school.

Tim Pavlish '00 (Shakopee, Minnesota) graduated from flight school and is now a small aircraft pilot for Mesaba Aviation.

Erika Lilley '01 (Los Angeles, California) is a graduate assistant volleyball coach at North Dakota State University and pursing an M.S. in Educational Leadership.

Mayre De Jong '00 (Holland) is a staff member for Senator Mark Dayton on health care issues.

Kofi Amoo-Gottfried '01 (Accra, Ghana) is enrolled in the Irving B. Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago while simultaneously working for the Leo Burnett Advertising Agency in Chicago.

Andrew Borene '98 (Edina, Minnesota) is currently an intelligence officer with the 1st Marine Division and served a tour of duty in Baghdad, Iraq.

Nathan Armogan '01 (South Africa) is working for Ingersol Rand Inc. in Pittsburgh.

Kristine Ray '00 (Hofelrup, Sweden) is working as a global corporate auditor for Carlson Wagonlit Travel in Minnetonka, MN.

Eddie Ray '00 (Texas) is working at Ecolab in St. Paul as a cash manager.

Kristoffer Ekelund '01 (Sweden) is a Market Planner for all Nordic countries with Procter & Gamble in Stockholm, Sweden.
