Interested in Accounting?

Macalester economics students take accounting courses for a number of reasons:

(a) Some simply want to learn "the language of business" and/or fulfill the requirements for the major. We recommend ECON 113 (Basic Financial Accounting).

(b) A number of students want to acquire a sufficient knowledge of accounting to prepare them for a job in the business world. For those students we recommend:

* ECON 113 (Basic Financial Accounting)
* ECON 353 (Managerial Accounting).

(c) A third type of student is interested in a career in accounting and wants to take a set of accounting courses equivalent to an "accounting major" or a "CPA track." Students with these interests should discuss their plans with Jeff Evans early in their college career.
