Academic Internships
Internships, Independent Projects and Preceptorships
Internships include work that involves the student in practical off-campus experiences with business, government and/or nonprofit organizations. They are available to junior and senior students with declared majors or cores who have completed the prerequisites of Economics 119, 361 and 371. Internships are generally arranged for a full semester, although students may be able to arrange internships during the January interval.
Independent projects (ECON 614) involve further study in fields of special interest, and may include readings, conferences, field work, and reports. Preceptorships (ECON 634) involve assisting faculty in the planning and teaching of a course and/or tutoring individual students. Both independent projects and preceptorships require ECON 119, 361, 371 and permission of the instructor.
