The mission of the Macalester College Employment Services Department is to design and implement programs that promote a preeminent working environment for the College's employees. This mission supports the overall College Mission to be a preeminent liberal arts college known for its high standards in scholarship and its special emphasis on internationalism, multiculturalism and service to society.
The skills, cooperation and dedication of the College's employees are essential for the institution to function effectively. The Employment Services Department is committed to attracting, selecting, retaining and developing a staff workforce that maintains the College's high standards. Employment Services is committed to the honest and fair treatment of all employees, while at the same time, it fosters the best interests of the institution. In support of our workforce, the department facilitates:
- trust and respect among the employees of the College,
- a sensitivity to the demographic and cultural differences in the workforce,
- open and honest communication across the College's community, and
- a model of how we value our employees.
Employment Services is further committed to advise and to consult with the Macalester's management and employees on human resources topics. The department also implements strategic human resources planning and best-in-class human resources practices to achieve these ends.
