11.5 Liability Insurance Policies

Liabilities resulting from your actions within the scope of your duties as a full or part-time employee member are covered by existing College insurance. Definition of the scope of your employment duties is a critical factor, and often a matter of judgment. When you anticipate engaging in activities that may be marginal with regard to your "official" duties, notify your supervisor in advance. You are also encouraged to discuss the activity with the Vice President for Administration and Treasurer, particularly if it involves operating your personal motor vehicle or other high-risk activity. These policies provide personal coverage to trustees, employees, student employees, and official volunteers, and include the cost of defending a claim.
